4 ways to break the silence

Since 2013 BTS/NM-trained adult and youth facilitators have presented to over 10,000 youth in middle and high school classrooms in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, Santa Fe, Española, Pojoaque, Taos, Ruidoso, and Zuni Pueblo.

Lessons include personal stories, information, and resources and provides the language necessary for teens to talk about the often taboo topic of mental illness.

We train facilitators to present two scripted lessons on mental illness and suicide to upper elementary, middle and high school students.

Trainings are the first step in preparing individuals to teach our curriculum.

Professional development is an important complement to our classroom presentations, and grew from interest from school-based health providers.

We designed a 90-minute program on teen mental health for school administrators and staff, including teachers, security guards, and after-school providers.

community forums

Forums are another component of our school-based program. They are designed to fit the needs of each unique group that we work with.

In past years, we have presented a 90-minute program to families, parent-teacher associations, and community leaders.
