BTSNM wants feedback from youth, while equipping them with tools to become mental health advocates in their communities. We want youth to critique BTSNM programs and have a creative outlet and safe space.

Why? Being a youth-focused organization, hearing directly from the community we serve is an integral part in creating our lessons.

All YAG activities aim to promote four skill categories: Project Development, Outreach, Partnership, and Advocacy.

Members can expect to:

  • Review BTSNM lessons
  • Participate in fundraising events
  • Participate in creativity and mental health workshops
  • Learn more about different mental health topics
  • Host and take part in community events
  • Reach out to schools and collaborate with them
  • Participate in fun, team-bonding activities
  • Work on peer and personal projects
  • Help create BTSNM media content

Most activities take place during monthly meetings, with optional extra events. Members can also take on different leadership roles, like Youth Coordinator, Youth Secretary, and Youth Media Chair.

Students interested in applying should be:

  • 15 to 18 years old and passionate about breaking down mental health stigma and raising awareness
  • Able to commit to monthly 2-hour meetings (virtual or in-person) for at least 1 year
  • Wanting to connect with other youth and take action
  • Willing to follow the Code of Conduct, and Discussion Ground Rules created with fellow YAG members

As YAG members, students will receive:

  • Skills for those interested in a mental health career
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Service/volunteer hours
  • Peer support and connection
  • Mental health trainings
  • Possible scholarships and gift cards
