Breaking the Silence New Mexico is seeking teens in the Albuquerque metro area who are passionate about mental health to form our Youth Advisory Group (YAG). In short, BTSNM wants feedback from youth, while equipping them with tools to become mental health advocates in their communities. How we work with schools
Recruitment: BTSNM wants to reach students from all walks of life at a variety of schools. We would love your support in getting this information to your students. This could be through:
- Distributing flyers or announcements
- Referring interested students
- Inviting BTSNM to tabling events or to give a brief informational presentation
Outreach
YAG members will be encouraged to participate in community outreach, including at their schools. With school approval, students can host events and activities that bring mental health education to their peers.
Flexibility
YAG participation will remain flexible to allow for students to enjoy a healthy school-life balance. Participation will not interfere with academics. We are willing to accommodate different schedules and formats (virtual or in-person) for monthly meetings. Additional participation will always be optional.
