Breaking the Silence New Mexico (BTSNM) holds its Youth Advisory Group (YAG) to high standards of behavior. Member behavior should at all times reflect our mission of advocacy. Every YAG participant, youth and adult, agrees to contribute to a sense of community and respect. Please read these expectations carefully.
- Above all, members should exhibit kindness, responsibility, fairness, and honesty. Treat other members and involved adults with respect. Show dedication and care for YAG activities. Intimidation, hostility, and discrimination will not be tolerated. BTSNM is strictly anti-bullying. Inappropriate physical contact with other members or BTSNM staff is unacceptable.
- Phone use is discouraged except when used for projects or during breaks.
- If you experience or witness a situation that involves sexual assault, a medical emergency, behavioral misconduct, abuse, and/or a mental health crisis, you must file an incident report. Submit reports to the Youth Program Coordinator and BTSNM Executive Director.
- The use of tobacco, alcohol, or other illegal substances while participating in YAG activities is not acceptable. If a member is found responsible for any criminal or legal offenses, such as stealing, vandalism, harassment, or assault, the member may face termination from the YAG.
- When participating in outreach with outside organizations, members must follow their sets of rules and guidelines, as well as BTSNM’s.
- Situations that affect attendance for YAG-related activities should be reported to the Coordinator as quickly as possible. Three (3) excused meeting absences are allowed per year.
- If at any point you wish to terminate your YAG membership, please notify the Youth Program Coordinator in writing.
